Collegiate Recovery at Salve Regina University
The new Salve Regina University Collegiate Recovery Program will expand equitable recovery support for students impacted by alcohol and other drug use. Located in Newport, a community with elevated alcohol-related risk, Salve currently lacks a formal recovery program. This CRP will connect students to peer-led support, campus services, and community-based recovery resources, fostering a recovery-supportive environment that promotes wellbeing, belonging, and academic success.
At Salve Regina University, participants of the Collegiate Recovery Program will gain access to the CRP Lounge, a welcoming environment for students available for meetings and drop-in visits. The CRP at Salve Regina will also host monthly Sober Saturday activities during the academic year. Students will have the peace of mind of knowing that they are participating in a program that has undergone comprehensive review processes to ensure alignment with compliance requirements and adequate student support. This support will include review of housing and residential life policies to ensure recovery-supportive or substance-free living options in addition to health, counseling, and disability services policies to coordinate care pathways. This comprehensive policy review will form the foundation for a sustainable, student-centered CRP aligned with institutional priorities and long-term student success.
