What is Recovery Housing?

A Recovery Residence (RR) is a safe, sober, and supportive living environment designed to help individuals sustain recovery from alcohol or substance use disorders and related challenges. These homes provide much more than a place to live—they foster community, accountability, and personal growth in an environment free from drugs and alcohol.

The primary purpose of a recovery residence is to offer stability and support while improving residents’ physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being. Each residence creates space for individuals to focus on recovery, rebuild their lives, and prepare for long-term independence.

Recovery residences are offered at different levels of support, depending on the type, intensity, and duration of services available. While every residence provides peer-to-peer recovery support, higher-level residences may also include access to structured programming, counseling, or medical services.
