Substance Use Disorder Treatment Month (All Month)

SAMHSA's Prevention Day (February 2nd)

National Prevention Day recognizes the role of prevention in reducing substance misuse and promoting mental health. Communities and organizations focus on education, awareness, and early intervention strategies that support healthy behaviors across the lifespan.

International Overdose Awareness Day (Late August)

A global event observed every August 31, this day remembers those lost to overdose, raises awareness about prevention, and reduces stigma. Communities across Rhode Island hold vigils, resource fairs, and awareness activities to support recovery journeys.

National Recovery Month (All month)

National Recovery Month celebrates individuals and families in recovery while raising awareness of recovery services and support systems. Events and activities throughout Rhode Island highlight the strength of recovery communities and the importance of accessible, sustained support.

Rally4Recovery — Providence (Mid-September)

Rhode Island’s largest recovery celebration brings people together for live entertainment, speakers, family activities, and community resources. Rally4Recovery highlights the hope, strength, and resilience of people in recovery.

East Bay Rally4Recovery — Warren (Late September)

A community-focused celebration offering education, support, and connection to peers, families, and allies in the East Bay region.

Move With MADD — Warwick (Mid-September)

A 5K walk/run hosted by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to raise awareness about impaired driving, prevent substance misuse, and support safe communities.

Recovery Day at the Statehouse — Providence
