Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE)

Association of recovery in higher education

The Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE) is the national leader in collegiate recovery, setting the standard for how colleges and universities can support students in recovery from substance use disorders. ARHE provides institutions with evidence-based practices, training, and guidance to build and sustain recovery-supportive campus communities.

Through its national conferences, technical assistance, research, and professional development opportunities, ARHE helps campuses:

  • Establish recovery-friendly environments that reduce stigma
  • Deliver student-centered support grounded in equity and inclusion
  • Strengthen student outcomes, including retention, graduation, and long-term wellness

Rhode Island’s growing network of Collegiate Recovery Programs—at Brown University, the University of Rhode Island (URI), and Rhode Island College (RIC)—is proud to align with ARHE’s vision, advancing a future where students in recovery are recognized as leaders, scholars, and vital contributors to campus life.
