About the Role

Are you an HR professional who thrives at the intersection of people strategy and community health? As a Human Resources Business Partner at Thundermist Health Center, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to leaders across three clinical sites, driving employee engagement, managing complex employee relations matters, and ensuring compliance with healthcare-specific regulations. On any given day, you’ll coach managers on performance, lead investigations, oversee ADA accommodations and leave administration, and design programs that make Thundermist a great place to work. This role reports to the AVP of Employee Relations and Workforce Design and plays a direct part in Thundermist’s mission to deliver quality healthcare to underserved communities.

What You’ll Do

 

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support Thundermist’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Manage employee relations matters across three clinical sites, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
  • Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate actions for complex employee relations issues.
  • Design and conduct employee engagement surveys, analyze results, and build action plans to address areas of improvement.
  • Create and maintain employee recognition programs aligned with organizational values and goals.
  • Organize employee events, town halls, and other activities that foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure effective, transparent communication of HR initiatives and organizational changes.
  • Continuously gather employee feedback and use insights to drive meaningful improvements.

Talent, Performance & Compliance

  • Support leadership in identifying and developing high-potential employees across all sites.
  • Implement and oversee performance management processes, coaching managers on effective techniques and timely completion of evaluations.
  • Provide guidance on performance improvement plans and return-to-work procedures.
  • Manage the interactive process for ADA accommodation requests, working closely with managers to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee leave administration including FMLA, state-specific leave laws, and internal leave policies.
  • Coordinate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure seamless integration of leave-related benefits and pay adjustments.
  • Assess training needs across three sites and coordinate learning and development programs, including required healthcare certifications.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, staying current on healthcare-specific HR regulations.
  • Maintain HR metrics and analytics to measure initiative effectiveness, and present reports to senior leadership.

What We’re Looking For

You’re someone who balances strategic thinking with hands-on problem solving. You bring strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment in sensitive situations, and a genuine commitment to supporting the people who make community healthcare possible.

  • 5–7 years of HR experience, with strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws relevant to healthcare.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing employee engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to coach managers and present to senior leadership.
  • Healthcare industry experience and multi-site HR management strongly preferred.
  • A genuine passion for community health and serving diverse, underserved populations.

Schedule & Locations

This is a full-time, salaried position (40 hours/week). You’ll work onsite five days a week across Thundermist’s three clinical sites, with occasional travel between locations. Some flexibility in hours may be needed based on workload.
