What You’ll Do
Support Teachers, Inspire Growth
  • Mentor and coach teachers and classroom staff so they can provide nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Model best practices in child development, classroom management, and positive guidance.
Shape High-Quality Classrooms
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, engaging environment where children can explore, discover, and build school-readiness skills.
  • Support use of Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, Conscious Discipline, and other high-quality early childhood frameworks.
Empower Families
  • Encourage strong home–school partnerships through parent-teacher conferences, home visits, and open communication.
  • Help families feel confident in supporting their child’s learning journey.
Lead With Purpose
  • Monitor classrooms, uphold Head Start Performance Standards, and maintain compliance with state licensing.
  • Collaborate with leadership to continually strengthen the program and elevate quality across classrooms.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following (as required by RI standards):

  • Current RI Early Childhood Education certification, or
  • MA/BA in Early Childhood Education with supervised teaching experience (with RI certification obtained within 1 year), or
  • MA/BA in a related field with required coursework and certification obtained within 1 year.

Physical Activity

This is a hands-on position that involves active movement in classroom settings and supporting young children throughout the day.
