General Responsibilities:

Under general direction of the Senior Dental Practice Director, the Dental Practice Manager oversees the front desk operations and provides leadership and guidance to office staff, provides training, coordinates patient scheduling, and registration. Monitors daily efficiency and productivity.  Responsible for maintaining quality patient service from telephone calls to patient flow to account collection.

 

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in health, business, or a related field and/or minimum of 2 years practice management experience
  • Knowledge of automated patient accounts system for medical or dental services
  • Experienced in ADA, Dental Coding, and ICD Coding for primary care services
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal and critical thinking skills, ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment

 

Significant Job Functions:
  • Maintains efficient and effective patient flow by developing, maintaining, and revising patient flow systems, from check-in to check-out, and the roles and responsibilities of receptionist and front desk support staff in these systems.
  • Provides ongoing staff development, supervision, corrective action, and training as needed.  Provides timely and meaningful employee evaluations and development of action plans for all supervised staff.
  • Effectively troubleshoots all Dental office operational problems.
  • Maintains computer appointment system; blocking, holding, or changing schedules as needed.
  • Responsible for assuring accuracy of the daily closings for the dental office.
  • Works closely with Billing Manager and Senior Dental Practice Director.
  • Attends management meetings and external meetings such as RIDOH.
  • Facilitates monthly meetings with Dental staff, including frequent 1:1 check-in, evaluations etc.
  • Acts as backup to dental patient representatives
  • Completes timely and accurate employee timesheets
  • Performs other duties at the request of the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Building templates for providers for scheduling
  • Monitor Provider Productivity and creates strategies to improve performance when necessary to meet goals
  • Contribute to the development of programmatic visit projections and then manage to the achievement of those projections
  • Scheduling teams – DA/PSR/HYG
  • Manage Community Dental Programs
  • Approving invoices
  • Manage departmental expenses
  • Manage on call schedules for providers and coordination of on call service
  • Maintaining environment of care ensuring facility meets required standards
  • Monitoring and updating patient access levels
Physical Effort/ Environment:
  • The duties of this position are performed at a Thundermist location.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.  Also requires extensive monitor use.  At times required to lift light to moderate objects.
Work Schedule Demands:
  • Typical schedule would be weekdays, normal business hours. However, may require evenings or weekends as needed. Hours may exceed full time (40) hours at times.
Communication Skills:
  • Must possess good oral communication skills, telephone skills and good written skills.  Some writing is required, i.e. general correspondence, directives, memos, interoffice communications.
