FSRI is always looking for candidates that want to make a positive impact on the community we serve in!

 

Internship summary: Ability to work with and integrate learning objectives with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver trauma-informed care, support and services to Lucy's Hearth Family Shelter residents; children, youth, and adults, who have experienced victimization. Complete intake assessments, safety plans and referrals for residents. Provide trauma-informed care with Lucys Hearth families, develop and implement trauma-informed programming to residents.

 

Specific responsibilities/duties:

  • Works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support residents of Lucy's Hearth.
  • Participates in resident activity planning
  • Support Case Management activities as needed.
  • Collaborates with other service providers to ensure clients/families needs are being met.
  • Maintains visible presence at facility to encourage resident engagement.
  • Maintains confidentiality of clients and families.
  • Provides sensitivity to clients and families cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues and diversity.
  • Serves as a positive role model to clients and colleagues.
  • Completes all professional and administrative documentation and forms in accordance with agency standards and within established guidelines and time frames.
  • Assist Lucy's Hearth Team to ensure the health and safety of all residents.
  • Participates in community collaborations and relevant committees as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Participating in an accredited university human and or social services academic program.
  • Training in trauma-informed care strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with homeless families and or victims of crime preferred.
  • Possession of a valid drivers license, reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance required.
  • Bilingual skills highly desired.

 

Physical requirements: 

This position requires residential and community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:

  • Travel to and from clients residence, community locations and office site, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
