Position Summary: The speech-language pathologist fellow is a skilled professional who has completed their required education and is now enrolled in a fellowship program to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge under the supervision of an experienced and licensed speech-language pathologist.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Understands, follows, and complies with Federal, State, and agency regulations pertaining to the Rhode Island Early Intervention system as well as policy and procedures regarding health, safety, and well-being.

  • Establishes and maintains an effective working partnership and consistent open communication with each family, EI team member, as well as medical and community partners.

  • To perform screenings, evaluations, assessments, and make relevant intervention and service recommendations, including being an active participant as a member of the Early Intervention multidisciplinary team.

  • Actively includes the family and other team members to develop IFSP outcomes that are family-owned, functional, measurable, within daily routines, and integrated across developmental domains.

  • Provides evidence-based interventions by coaching caregivers with strategies for implementation into daily routines, every day activities, and natural environments.

  • Uses interpersonal skills effectively and contributes professional knowledge within the EI team.

  • Exhibits professional work habits and shows commitment to ongoing professional growth.

  • Participation in regular supervision with a licensed speech/language pathologist to review cases, clinical decisions, and receive guidance on complex cases.

  • To complete all Family Service and Early Intervention paperwork including forms and written documentation of all evaluations, IFSP outcomes, progress reports, communication with families, outside referral sources, physicians, etc, in accordance with established licensure requirements and The RI EI Certification Standards.

  • When identified in child’s IFSP, assess, aid in measurement and/or fabrication, and provide written justification for adaptive equipment used to facilitate and enhance client mobility, positioning, and independent functioning.

  • To participate in transition meetings, team coordination meetings, and any other meeting for a family as needed.

  • Maintains productivity of at least 50 percent of hours worked per week. Hours worked per week do not include PTO/Holidays/Trainings.

  • Provide confidential environment in home for telehealth services.

  • Other duties as assigned or requested by EI management staff.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree from a Board approved school of Speech-Language Pathology and meet requirements for licensing by the RI Department of Health.

  • Current RI driver’s license.

  • Current auto insurance.

  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification

  • "Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay."

 

Continuing Education Requirements:

  • As needed to maintain Speech Pathologist Therapist licensure and meet personnel qualifications in the Rhode Island Early Intervention Certification Standards.

  • Completion of Introduction to Early Intervention course.

  • Maintain CPR/First Aid
