POSITION TITLE: Housing Navigator 

PROGRAM: DCYF - CHT 

FULL TIME Full-Time 

SALARY RANGE: $19.00 - $23.62 Hourly

Summary: Responsible for partnering with families and supporting the Community Health Team (CHT) members by providing assistance with housing, including problem solving for immediate shelter needs, gaining access to the Regional Access Points (RAP) and shelters, negotiating with landlords to preserve current housing, connecting with housing programs, and teaching skills for housing stability, such as budgeting and tenant rights and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • The Housing Navigator must have the experience, knowledge, and competencies needed to effectively support families with immediate or pending housing needs, as well as knowledge of the RI housing system and related area resources.
  • The Housing Navigator preferably has personal, lived experience similar to the families served.
  • Experience working with families at risk for involvement with child mental health, child welfare, or juvenile corrections systems preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Bilingual/ASL skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
  • Multilingual skills are compensated by an additional 8%, above base pay.

Physical requirements: This position requires residential and community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:

  • Travel to and from clients’ residences, community locations and office site, which could include using walkways, stairs, and/or elevators.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
  • Ability to communicate by voice, use sight and hearing.
