General Responsibilities:
The Director of Psychiatry is responsible for overseeing the clinical practice of all psychiatric clinicians at Thundermist (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatrists).  Additionally, the Director of Psychiatry will work in conjunction with other clinical leaders (nursing, behavioral health, medical, etc) to design/refine the model of psychiatric and the care team that support those services at Thundermist.   The Medical Director of Psychiatry will serve as part of the Medical Directors team & Behavioral Health Leadership team, providing leadership on all clinical services related to psychiatry while working closely with the Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Operating Officer, Associate Vice President of Behavioral Health and Social Services.

Required Qualifications:
1.    MD, DO, MS or PhD in Nursing with Board Certification Psychiatry
2.    One or more years of practice in psychiatry;
3.    Full, unrestricted RI license to practice psychiatric medicine.

Work Schedule Demands:

Full time (40 hours) to include: clinical and administrative hours defined by contract.

Communication Skills:

Exceptional oral and written skills needed.  Proficient in psychiatric terminology.

Confidentiality of Information:

Full access to patient records, clinical reports and data, personnel records of medical providers, general medical department budgets, financial reports and statistics.  Position requires review and preparation of certain confidential information.  

Significant Job Functions:

Planning
•    Participate/Lead weekly Psychiatric Provider Meetings
•    Provide Clinical Supervision to Psychiatric Providers
•    Collaborate with Practice Management and Nursing Leadership to ensure effective provision of Psychiatric Services
•    Facilitate open communication amongst Psychiatric Providers and related care team members
•    Conduct chart audits for all Psychiatric Providers.
Organize
•    Assist with the organization and creation of meeting agendas for the Psychiatric Provider Meetings
•    Assist with the development of all aspects of Psychiatric Services at Thundermist.
•    Organize content for and collaborate with Medical Directors
•    Organize content for and collaborate with Behavioral Health Directors

Staffing
•    Participate in Psychiatric clinician recruiting as necessary.
•    Facilitate communication with the Practice Manager.
•    Work with Practice Management to understand access measures and other data to understand Psychiatric Access to inform recruiting needs.
•    Work with Medical Director of Clinician Wellness to understand results of staff burnout surveys related to psychiatric providers.

Monitoring
•    Review patient satisfaction surveys in conjunction with THC leadership team, secondary review of patient complaints, primary responsibility for resolution of complaints against psychiatric providers.
•    Participate in periodic clinical reviews, including provider dashboards and peer reviews.  Monitor compliance with clinical standards.
