| Position Overview |
The Rhode Island College Upward Bound Program is a federally funded program for rising 10, 11, and 12-grade college-bound high school students. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the high school graduation, college-going, and college graduation rates of program participants. The Upward Bound Summer Program is hiring part-time, temporary Mathematics Instructors. Qualified candidates must be able to teach specific high school level mathematics courses in 1 or more of the following: Algebra I & II, Geometry, College Mathematics, Pre-Calculus, Statistics, Financial Literacy, or Calculus. Introduction to the Summer: The Program seeks individuals who can commit to expected timeframes and support our philosophy, mission, and the Code of Conduct (document to be provided if offered an interview). Overview of Mathematics Courses: The curriculum and learning objectives for the assigned class need to be designed to align with the State Standards. It is important to incorporate innovative approaches to introduce new concepts, improve students’ ability to think and reason at a higher level, enhance problem-solving skills, emphasize mathematical modeling, enable mastery, and boost students’ confidence to take higher level courses in mathematics and science |

Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

| Preferred Qualifications | Teachers with RI secondary school/mathematics teaching certification |
| Environmental Conditions | The employee is not exposed to known adverse environmental conditions. Instruction and tutoring occurs in classrooms, residence hall, and other college facilities. However, participation in cultural and social activities with students is expected. |
