What you’ll do:

Enterprise Data Strategy & Governance

  • Define and drive the enterprise data strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Establish data governance frameworks and ensure data quality, documentation, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Analytics and AI teams to ensure the enterprise data estate is architected to effectively support critical analytical workloads and AI-driven initiatives
  • Partner with business leaders to identify strategic data opportunities and translate them into scalable solutions.

Snowflake Optimization & Architecture

  • Lead the design and optimization of Snowflake as a unified cloud data platform.
  • Ensure scalable, secure, and cost-effective data architecture across the enterprise.
  • Promote best practices for data modeling, performance tuning, and workload management.

Modern ELT & DevOps Practices

  • Champion modern DevOps methodologies for ELT pipeline development and deployment.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring for data workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure robust, reusable, and maintainable data solutions.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Manage direct and indirect teams across onshore and offshore locations.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop talent within the data organization.

Cloud & Technology Enablement

  • Drive adoption of cloud-native tools and technologies across the data stack.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7-10 years experience leading implementation of data warehouse or software development life cycle
  • 5-7 years management experience or experience leading a team
  • Proven expertise in Snowflake, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and modern ETL/ELT tools.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and data pipeline automation.
  •  
  • Experience managing ETL/ELT factory of resources either internal or offshore
  • Experience Snowflake, Matillion, dbt, GitHub
  • Experience with modern, cloud based data architectures
  • Experience with FinOps and managing cloud data assets
  • Ability to prioritize requirements and execute multiple critical projects
  • Ability to collaborate while dealing with complex situations
  • Ability to think creatively and to drive innovation
  • Ability to influence up and across the organization
  • Ability to motivate, lead and inspire a diverse group to a common goal/solution with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to convert business strategy into action-oriented objectives and measurable results
  • Ability to develop and manage a budget
  • Strong negotiating, influencing, and consensus-building skills
  • Ability to mentor, coach and provide guidance to others

Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
