Position Summary The Onanian School of Nursing at Rhode Island College invites applications for a full-time (nine-month) position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Nursing specializing in community and public health nursing. We seek candidates whose background, teaching interests, and scholarship agenda will help foster excellence in teaching, and diversity in the college.
Essential Duties
  • Provide classroom and clinical instruction for undergraduate courses.
  • Participate in the development, evaluation, and revision of the nursing curriculum and course materials.
  • Incorporate current evidence-based practices into course content and teaching and learning strategies.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students through academic advising
  • Participate in School and College activities.
  • Serve on School and College committees.
  • Maintain professional competence.
  • Engage in scholarly endeavors, including publications and presentations.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with healthcare organizations and community stakeholders.
  • Contributes to a healthy work environment.
  • Models professionalism, kindness, and collaboration in all interactions.
Occasional Duties
  • May teach graduate courses.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Undergraduate Department Chair.

Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Nursing (Ph.D, DNP, Ed.D)*
  • Relevant clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing.
  • Eligible RI RN License.

 


Note: If no successful candidate is identified, applicants holding a master’s degree in nursing may be considered for a 3-year limited position. Candidates who expect to complete a terminal degree within 4 years may be considered for a continuing instructor position.

  • College teaching experience.
