Position Overview The Institute for Education in Healthcare (IEH) is situated within the School of Business. The IEH was formed in 2016 as a unifying body tasked with building partnerships across higher education, health and behavioral healthcare industry partners, community partners, and consumer groups for the purpose of identifying and responding to workforce needs across the care continuum. RI College’s Institute for Education in Healthcare received a $2,300,000 dollar (over four years) award from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for strengthening integrated primary behavioral healthcare delivery in community health organizations, where the emphasis is on workforce development through undergraduate and graduate student training and apprenticeships/internships.
Primary Purpose The Director of CHW Training & Apprenticeships plays a critical role in establishing the HRSA CHW Healthcare Training Workforce Development Program. This position is responsible for the following tasks: liaison between RIC and community sites, coordination of practice sites, and supervision of the case managers assigned to the project, and coordination of apprentices. The Director of CHW Healthcare Training Workforce Development serves as a liaison between industry partners and state agencies, and RIC departments in the planning, development, and implementation, oversight of all grant deliverables, including evaluation.
Essential Duties
  • Serve as the liaison between RIC and the Community Sites by providing weekly communication and coordination among practice sites, trainees and apprenticeship partners
  • Coordinate training and apprenticeship cohorts
  • Provide weekly supervision, support, and training to the two Case Managers in their roles as trainee/apprentice supports
  • Assume responsibility for monitoring team activities and communicating expectations and deliverables related to outcomes
  • Provide oversite and support for monthly integrated team meetings to process placement site experiences, successes, and needs
  • Participate on monthly grant meetings with grant partners
  • Monitor and inform PI/Co-PI and partners of participant-organizational conflicts, retention and care continuum obstacles due to funding, discrimination, absence of services/resources, communication obstacles

  • Experience with coordinating training programs.

  • Knowledgeable about healthcare and interdisciplinary models of care, building partnerships between higher education and employer partners, curriculum development, and implementation to support participant learning and workforce development.

  • Ability to participate as a team member, to understand and interpret regulations, and to adjust to change with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form and to work with a variety of constituents.
  • Good computing skills including MS Office, database, statistical software, and general computer knowledge.

  • Master’s degree in a healthcare related discipline but will consider candidates enrolled in a
  • Experience with healthcare fields of practice and experience overseeing training projects. Experience supporting community based organizations through higher education partnerships, and supporting program development through higher education partnerships.
