Why this job matters:

 

The Commercial Support Team is looking for a Health Policy and Management student to assist as a Client Service Manager Intern. The student will be exposed to the patient experience on the insurance eligibility and claims side, including how to read claims and understand how they process against member benefits. The student will have the ability to shadow and sit in on team meetings as well as have designated projects. 

 

What you will do:

  • Manage incoming inquiries (phone calls, emails, Salesforce cases, and faxes) to help:
    • Educate customers; clearly respond to inquiries concerning products, benefits, and eligibility, claims, pharmacy, and/or billing
    • Facilitate resolution to the highest level of escalation for group, sales, or third-party administrators, and member concerns to ensure satisfaction and retention of group accounts
    • Interpret and research complex issues; facilitate and ensure prompt resolution with internal departments
    • Communicate updates and issue resolution to customers 
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvement and training needs
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of all lines of business
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed:

  • Matriculating status from Providence College
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Familiarity with the health insurance or managed care industry, including the RI provider community
  • Ability to read contractual and subscriber agreements to understand benefits, and the RI rules and regulations relative to eligible enrollees 

Location:

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
