East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking part-time (16 hours per week) or per-diem Lead Teachers for our Newport Family & Child Opportunity Zone (NFCOZ) Program at the Pell Elementary School in Newport, RI. NFCOZ provides services and referrals to Newport children and their families in school and community settings, in partnership with Newport Public Schools, parents, and the community.

Make a difference in the lives of children:

  • Create and implement curriculum and thematic activities for their assigned classrooms at Pell Elementary School.
  • Develop and implement a nurturing environment for the children
  • Supervise children and ensure safety while attending assigned sessions.
  • Communicate with families
  • Assist to supervise and direct childcare teacher assistants.
  • Support students who are identified as needing additional resources and interventions in coordination with classroom teachers and specialists
  • Assist the NFCOZ Site Coordinator to offer students a broad array of activities that reinforce and complement the regular academic program and that support connections to school
  • Assisting students to develop 21st Century skills and contribute to students’ social and emotional growth.

As required by the RI Department of Human Services Childcare Regulations:

  • The individual holds a High School Diploma with a vocational concentration in childcare and has two (2) years of supervised experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program.
